Odin (Woden) |
Important in Norse mythology are 9 worlds including the world of man, and Ragnarok - a series of cataclysmic events leading to submersion of the world and later reemergence (similarities to Biblical flood). Yggdrasil is the world tree - parallels have been drawn to the Hebrew Tree-of-Life and analogies to the nervous system of the human body (the sacrifice of Odin relating to hormonal changes in the body during growth).

Norse mythology had a strong influence on some Led Zeppelin song lyrics, including Stairway to Heaven. It has also had a lasting influence on our society and the names of Gods and Goddesses crop up in daily conversation:
